First Aid at Work

The First Aid at Work course is an initial training programme in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency patient care. It is a medically based aid course designed to teach students to follow set procedures at lay person's level, to the same emergency aid skills and priorities used by ambulance technicians, paramedics and doctors. The skills of patient care essential to support the life of an ill or injured person are covered in 4 days (6 contact hours per day) in which practical application and hands on practice are emphasised. All skills learned by the students are in the same sequence that would be used when caring for the patient.
The First Aid at Work course, as approved by the Health and Safety Executive, covers primary and secondary care, treatment and management of medical emergencies in the work place. This course is NVQ Mapped and and attracts LSC funding.
